Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Journi ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Journi travel-planning service (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Account and Authentication

The Service uses Google OAuth for sign-in. You are responsible for the security of the Google account you use to access Journi and for all activity that occurs under your account. Accounts are for individual use; you may not share credentials or register on behalf of anyone else without authority to do so.

4. Your Content

You retain all ownership rights in the trips, places, notes, itineraries, packing lists, and other content you create in the Service ("Your Content").

By creating Your Content, you grant Journi a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, display, transmit, and (where you create a share link) make Your Content accessible to recipients of that link, solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service to you. This licence ends when you delete the relevant content, subject to reasonable backup retention.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any law
• Upload, store, or share content that is defamatory, harassing, hateful, obscene, infringing, or otherwise objectionable
• Upload other people's personal data without a lawful basis to do so
• Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code or bulk data of the Service
• Abuse, overload, or attempt to circumvent rate limits, share-link expiry, access controls, or row-level security
• Use the Service in a way that imposes an unreasonable or disproportionate load on our infrastructure or that of our third-party providers
• Introduce malware or attempt to compromise other users

6. Sharing Feature

When you create a share link, the snapshot of places you choose to share becomes viewable by anyone holding the URL for up to 7 days. You are solely responsible for who you send share links to and for the content included in them. You may maintain up to 10 active share links per destination. We may revoke share links that breach these Terms.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service depends on third-party providers for mapping, routing, authentication, and hosting. We do not control those services and do not guarantee their availability, accuracy, or continued existence. Travel times, distances, and routes are estimates based on third-party data and must not be relied on for safety-critical, time-critical, emergency, or legally binding decisions.

8. Service Availability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not offer any uptime guarantee. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, though we will endeavour to give reasonable notice of material changes where practical.

9. Intellectual Property

The Journi name, logo, user interface, code, and associated materials are owned by Journi or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended personal and internal travel-planning purposes. You may not resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service.

10. Fees

The Service is currently provided free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid tiers or features in the future. If we do, we will give reasonable advance notice and, where required, obtain your agreement before charging you.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your account as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or if required by law. On termination, the licences you grant us under section 4 end, and we will delete Your Content subject to reasonable backup retention.

12. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, or availability. We do not warrant that routes, travel times, place data, or any output of the Service are accurate, complete, or current. You travel at your own risk.

Place details — including names, addresses, coordinates, opening hours, categories, and other attributes — are sourced from third-party data providers and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. You are responsible for independently verifying any information that matters to your plans (for example, by contacting a venue directly or checking an official source) before relying on it.

Content created by other users, including places, notes, and lists shared with you via a share link, is provided by those users and not verified or endorsed by Journi. We make no warranty as to the accuracy, safety, legality, or suitability of user-generated content, and you rely on it at your own risk.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Journi's total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service (whether in contract, tort, including negligence, or otherwise) is limited as follows:

• If you use the Service free of charge, Journi shall have no liability to you of any kind.
• If you pay fees to use the Service, Journi's total aggregate liability is limited to the fees you actually paid us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of goodwill, missed travel, missed bookings, or delays, however caused.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Journi and its officers, employees, and agents harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you on your next sign-in. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim, except that, if you are a consumer, you may have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you reside, and the mandatory consumer-protection laws of that country continue to apply to you.
